Sterling Pacific luggage is indeed made in China, as they state on their website, but it’s wrong to assume that they make there just to exploit low-cost labour and increase their profit, as we’ve discussed before. Sometimes, companies will manufacture overseas because that’s where the ability to manufacture is – Sterling Pacific could indeed build their own factory and make from scratch in Nevada where they’re based, but this would increase the cost of the product considerably.

But in multiple trips abroad in which I did a lot of travel within a foreign country, I learned that the extra bulk of that makes is much easier to find in my bags. I learned that you should ALWAYS know where your passport is, but in a much used bag, it can still move around. The leather covering makes it very easy to find and grab, and I consider it quite necessary for any foreign traveling.
I recommended noise canceling headphones a friend, and when she returned, she thank me profusely. Turns out she said next to a total jerk on the plane who wouldn’t leave her alone. She finally remembered the headphones, put them on, and tuned him out. They saved her from a rather unpleasant experience.

That’s all profit in the company’s pocket given the low-cost labor in China.
