Like most Western gear, the snap closures appeared for a practical reason. They can be easily opened or closed with one hand. The yoke on the shoulders was to implement an extra layer of fabric, as ranch work can involve a fair amount of shoulder wear through lifting and carrying. The unique shoulder and back pattern was a nod to style, and the wide “vee” on the back was in fact a British pattern on some jackets.

The fancy fabrics were indeed initiated by early country western entertainers.

Out of interest, Richard, at what point do you feel that we’ve suggested people invest in skinny pants?

Now I am not a big fan of the “3 inch” cuffs but for me “2 1/2” is just the right height, with a slight “break” that the back slants down to cover just the top of the back part of your dress shoes.

Square watches? Topcoats and Overcoats, old money? Very funny to hear you state these items with a straight face.

Surprised that G.G. is getting away from the non-pressed, skinny dress pants uncuffed and focusing on normal width dress slacks with 3-inch cuffs. Three-inch cuffs!

Always fun to watch these videos.
